Austria GO truck toll (GO-Maut)
Overview
Distance-based toll for vehicles above 3.5 tonnes — trucks, buses and heavy motorhomes — on Austria’s network of about 2,200 km of motorways and expressways, operated by the state-owned motorway company ASFINAG. Introduced in 2004, it is collected in multi-lane free flow: a GO-Box on-board unit communicates by microwave (DSRC) with roadside equipment, so vehicles never stop. Since January 2024 the truck toll also reflects CO₂ emissions. For the current generation of the system (GO Maut 2.0), Kapsch TrafficCom designed and delivered the roadside tolling and enforcement systems, mobile enforcement equipment and the operational back office, and migrated about 480 roadside facilities during live operation.
