Overview
CityLink is a 22 km urban toll road linking three major freeways in Melbourne and one of the earliest large-scale multi-lane free-flow electronic tolling systems. Transponders are read by microwave DSRC at freeway speed, stereoscopic imaging detects and classifies vehicles, and cameras photograph licence plates for video tolling and enforcement; the system initially handled more than 600,000 transactions a day. CityLink is part of Transurban’s Melbourne network, where customers pay through Linkt accounts and passes.
