A79 free-flow motorway (Allier – Saône-et-Loire)

Operational

Overview

The 88 km A79 between Sazeret (Allier) and Digoin (Saône-et-Loire), linking the A71 and A6, entered service on 4 November 2022 as France’s first motorway with free-flow tolling, a scheme made possible by the 2019 Mobility Orientation Law (LOM). It has no physical toll barriers: six gantries equipped with infrared cameras and sensors identify registration plates and vehicle types to calculate the toll. The 48-year concession is held by ALIAE, a subsidiary of APRR.
